The Thousand Sunny Flying Model is a non-canon model that made its debut in the One Piece film "Stampede" released to celebrate the anime's twentieth anniversary. In the film, the Straw Hat crew utilized the Thousand Sunny Flying Model to ascend a knock-up stream and reach the Pirate King's forgotten treasure. Similar to the first time the crew went up a knock-up stream, the vessel required modifications, and Franky created the Thousand Sunny Flying Model to aid in their ascent. With this equipment, the Thousand Sunny could safely climb the knock-up stream using the Coup de Burst to generate enough lift and soar up to Treasure Island! Franky named this configuration the Thousand Sunny: Emperor Penguin Mode, giving the ship's figurehead a crowned penguin mask to match its two-tone wings.
For fans of the One Piece series looking to express their love, Bandai's Grand Ship Collection, including the Thousand Sunny Flying Model, is an excellent choice for modelers of any skill level. Unlike traditional model ships found in hobby shops, the Thousand Sunny Flying Model is a snap-build kit that requires no tools for assembly. Each part is designed to pop off the runner without any nippers, and a set of color-correcting stickers is included for a great display piece straight out of the box. The lower hull of the model easily separates from the rest of the ship, allowing builders to choose between displaying the entire ship or just the portion above the water level. This unique model ship is a must-have for any One Piece fan looking to showcase their fandom.
